Q: I drink 2L water per day. Is that healthy for me?

This question is from one of my patients who drinks a lot of water each day to keep him healthy. But that is totally wrong. Eight glasses of water a day to stay healthy is a very misguided and widely spread health idea.

In addition to the water you drink with your daily meals, you don’t usually need to add much extra water. People think that water is non-toxic, but in fact, too much water in the body will have a chance to form water retention. Water retention in TCM can cause a lot of diseases as well.

If you always feel thirsty and it cannot be released by drinking water or you never like to drink water, you might need help from TCM to find the body health issue beneath it.
