Case 1. One male, in his forties, sulked for some reason, leading to emotional depression, lazy talk, physical weakness, listlessness, head discomfort, etc. At first, he wanted to solve the above issues by himself, but not effectively. He could feel the pain around the lower rib area during the examination. This belongs to liver qi stagnation in TCM view. Then we treated it with acupuncture combined with the Chinese herbal medicine formula “Chaihu Shugan San”. After the acupuncture, the patient felt his depression gradually better. Two days after taking the medicine, his mood had completely returned to normal.
Case 2. One male, in his thirties. The chief complaint was emotional irritability and depression. Recently, he often felt emotionally frustrated and unable to release his pressure. Sleep was okay, and stools were dry. This is liver qi stagnation transforming to fire in TCM view. The Chinese herbal formula “Danzhi Xiaoyao San” was used for treatment. After two days of doses, the patient has significant improvement.
From these two cases, we can discover that Chinese medicine can help with a lot of emotional problems by soothing the liver and relieving depression, and the earlier the treatment, the better. Both patients were treated with herbal medication soon after the emotional problems appeared, and the relief was very rapid. Of course, this is related to the patient’s own Yang( positive) energy status. As long as the body’s Qi status is adjusted, the effect is often very quick under the Yang status of the body. However, most people do not have this concept, thus an improperly solved emotional issue can lead to a long period of depression. It is hard to be resolved themselves, and then their illness becomes more and more complicated.
In addition, we find that in the clinic, more females seek medical attention due to emotional depression than males. On the one hand, the impact of liver qi is more obvious on women, such as menstrual and breast-related symptoms. On the other hand, women generally are more sensitive to body and mind symptoms. On the contrary, many men do not pay attention to their emotional problems or are unwilling to face them. And they have no idea that through traditional Chinese medicine therapies, good results can be achieved.
In fact, any emotional problem will definitely affect the harmony of the whole family. It should be taken seriously and resolved in time.
