One patient, female, European, in her 30s, complained of low mood, recent she felt stressed, sad, crying a few times, worrying a lot, no anger, pain under both rib sides, normal appetite, and normal sleep. She felt unwell all night for some days. Occasional nausea and bloating. The pulse was floating and stringy, the chi pulse was thin and deep to the bone. The veins on both sides of the lower abdomen could be seen. The herbal formula is Jiawei Xiaoyao Powder, plus Ganmai Dazao Decoction, and Liver-dredging Method, with 7 days doses. After two weeks, the patient reported that the mood of sadness, excessive thinking, and hypochondriac pain had disappeared.
The pathogenesis of this case is liver stagnation, blood stasis and liver yin deficiency, and the symptoms of the spleen and stomach are caused by liver qi attacking the spleen and stomach.
