[Case study] Herbal medicine helps with rheumatoid arthritis

One patient, European, 25 years old(in 2018), female, suffered from RA in her hands. The hands are swollen, the fingers and wrist joints are slightly deformed and painful, and the pain is aggravated in the rainy winter. When she was a child, she had acute joint pain once at about 12 years old in the hospital, and she did not suffer from the pain since then. Her current GP, who diagnosed it as rheumatoid arthritis, recommended that she take the medicine for 3 months and take five kinds of hormones, anti-allergic and other control drugs every day. The patient considered the side effects of western medicine, which can only play a control role, so she came to me for help.
The patient’s complexion is grey, the skin of the fingers is tight, the joints are deformed, and the pulse is heavy.
I prescribe about 12 days of Chinese herbal medicine. The patient reported that her hands no longer felt pain even on rainy days, Not only the condition of the hands is controlled, but the skin colour of the patient is also greatly improved.
After the patient’s symptoms improved, he went to the GP for a follow-up consultation. The doctor believed that the effect was well controlled and approved that she should continue to undergo Chinese medicine treatment to control the condition. It is a pity that she didn’t insist on treatment to release all the root problem after the symptoms improve and the pain disappears.
I tracked this patient after six months,  there was no recurrence. I am happy about the result. But it has the possibility to come back someday years later when the patient changes to a weak body condition or continuously has unhealthy lifestyle.
