Instruction on cooking raw herbs

  • Use a clay pot or a stainless steel pot. Avoid using aluminum pots.
  • No soaking is required; The water level should be 3-5cm above the herbs.
  • Directly bring the herbs to a gentle boil over low heat.  Once boiling, simmer over low heat for about 40 minutes (adjust based on the remaining liquid). Throughout the process, avoid using high heat.
  • Each batch of herbs should only be decocted once. The resulting liquid is referred to as one dose, to be divided and taken morning and evening or as directed by medical advice.
  • If you are unsure about the amount of water initially, you can add a little boiling water midway through.
  • If using ginger, slice it into thick coins. If using jujubes, select plump ones and cut them open or into several pieces before adding to the herbs.
  • Caution: Be careful not to let it boil dry or even burn. If this happens, do not consume it under any circumstances.
